the “came back wrong” trope except like… they didnt. like this mad scientists wife died, and so he studied necromancy, brought her back, and she came back and it all worked. like she came back exactly the same as she was before with literally no difference. but the scientist guy is like “oh no… what have i done…. shes Different now!!!! she came back Wrong!!!!” and shes just like. chilling. reading a book. cooking dinner. shes just so so normal but in the guys mind hes like “oh shes soooo weird” but shes just normal

i truly cannot abide any variation of the take “maybe lestat wasn’t all that bad” and it’s the instability of memory/armand protecting louis from the truth that he killed a husband who he or claudia had also wronged or who had actually sincerely apologized and claudia was mad and out for blood. like first of all it is important to the plot that the abuse actually escalates after lestat comes back and is forgiven like it doesn’t make any sense for that not to be real. Second of all how would it be in character for lestat to be like actually i respect you both now . And most importantly The show makes OBVIOUS that the monstrous memory louis is trying to repress the thing he can’t bear to remember is not that the murder wasn’t deserved but that it WAS deserved, it WAS exactly that necessary and he STILL couldn’t go through with it and he still regretted it . like why would he be trying so desperately to forget the depth and degree of his love for lestat if lestat was actually not that bad a guy

and MOST most importantly claudia can do whatever she wants forever and always tragically have the moral high ground not that she needs it
